It's 2008 and it seems I still can't matchframe an imported graphic if it has a key channel as well as any titles I have created with title tool, is this true or am I crazy or missed the info on how to do that?

No, you're not crazy. Check out this thread.

I know it's kinda silly. There is a console command that will allow you to match frame clips wwith alpha, haven't found it as of yet.

normally you cannot matchframe clips with an alpha channel like keys, titles, imported graphics and movies with alpha aso. but after entering "subsys monpane debug" in the console (ctrl+6) you get rid of the annoying "precomputes cannot be loaded ..."-message.
now matchframing the clip (lets say a title) you will see two videotracks in the player. V1 is the fill, V2 the key. If you edit them back into the timeline instead of the original clip and then apply the matte effect onto the key-track you will have the same result as before but with separate key- and fill-tracks.
I prefer the workaround in the link I posted because unlike "sybsys monopane..." it brings the precompute back to the source monitor INTACT in one layer just the way you want it. You can then extend the precompute in either direction to it's full duration. And it takes all of about 10 seconds to do.
I'll agree with larry here, I use Ctrl Alt C about 100 times a day :) Of course it doesn't work for finding the item in the bin. I do recall seeing another consol command that beings up the complete title/graphic propery in the source monitor, or I may be going crazy.
Really, this is something that should be part of the system already.
Scott, if you ever do find that particular console command, please come back and post it here. I'd sure like to give it a try.
