Is there a quick way to single roller trim each clip in my sequence to exactly five minutes long?
In Trim Mode I can specify the number of frames to move left or right, but I don't see a way to specify clip length. I can display clip length in the timeline, which helps when trimming to a certain length, but it would be nice to be able to type something like "5:00:00" for five mintues and be done with it.
I also don't see how to select more than one clip for single roller trimming; when I try to select more than one clip I'm put into the four screen mode for slipping and sliding. Is it possible to trim more than one transition at the same time? Thanks very much!
First, make sure the top line of clip info above your source and record monitors is displaying clip timecode. Then, with the position indicator on the first frame of the clip, type +45929, enter, and the position indicator will be at a point exactly five minutes after the first frame. Advance one more frame forward, mark a new in and segment slide the next clip back to that point and continue the process. If a clip is shorter than 5 minutes, use the same +45929, then mark an out point, position the blue bar within the clip and use the extend function.

This may be tedious for 5 minutes, but it works for me when I have a bunch of clips (usually graphics) where they all need to have a specific in and/or out point. Open the bin with your clips and selct "script" view. Select each clip. If selecting all, use the pull down "edit" menu and pick "select all". Hit the home key, and then use the 2 key to advance 10 frames. When at your desired out point (or in point) simply mark in or out using your keyboard. I have found that this only works with keystrokes and does not work using your mouse to select functions (like in and out). I haven't experimented with this much, but this works for me.
Thanks much guys. No silver bullet, but some good suggestions that I apprecaite.
