Re: 1:1 uncompressed om ethernet Lanshre?

First off, gigabit from the chassis to the switch.  10/100 from the switch to the client.  No gigabit from the chassis to the switch, to the client, with LanShare EX.  Now, with this switch, it has 4 1000gb ports, are your clients plugged into them?  If so and your getting 1000mb a sec, first ive heard, ive always known that its always 10?100 to the client on Lanshare EX.

Ive run 2:1 on clients, ethernet, no issues, in a pinch, never had an issue.  The clients were 4 MCA 2.x when i was running it.  Not the "avid approved way" of fiber, but it worked.  Try it, worst that could happen is that you have AECIFS read stream errors and maybe you crash the file manager.  Look in the 4.1.1 readme, there should be bandwidth req. listed and tested configs.

Now, this is from the EX readme on Setup from 3.1, i doubt it would have changed since then, seeing they are still using the same asante switch.

    clients
    • 10:1m or lower – up to 6 four-stream clients or up to 5 nine-stream
    clients
    • DV 25 – up to 20 single-stream clients

LANserver EX Fibre Channel Attached Clients

The following sections describe the Avid Composer Products clients you
can attach to a LANshare workgroup through the Fibre Channel adapter
    boards.

These clients can use the following video resolutions:

    • 2:1 or lower – up to 4 dual-stream clients

    (NewsCutter XP clients only)
