Carl,
Thanks again for all the aid...here's the latest
1) I followed your instructions...(I always export in QT Movie by the way)...changed it to 720x480, and selected Crop/Pad rather than size to fit...
2) I then imported it into Sorenson Squeeze, and of course, unless I change the aspect settings to 16:9, the video looks squised...
3) I can't upload it to the site that way, cause it will appear squished...

The videos are set to be uploaded in 4:3 only...and have no choice...so my basic problem once again is...if the DECK CAN ONLY EXPORT IN 16:9...is it useful to me at all??? I mean...it's great that it exports that way...and that the video looks good when it gets in there...but if it can't export, crop/whatever, I'm not sure it's going to be useful to me...like I said...the vid's HAVE TO BE 4:3..
Any tips on what direction now..? Any more tips on export settings? I'm not too familiar with the Crop/Pad option...what's it typically used for, etc...
Thanks again guys!!
Hi,
How does the video look coming out of Avid? If it's ok, there might be a setting in Squeeze to make it come out correctly. If it's squished coming out of Avid, then never mind.

It sounds like it's not. I'd try capturing a short clip from the camera with the camera set to Edge Crop. Then export it from Avid and see if it's squished or not. If it looks ok, then you might have to batch capture your sequence using the camera.
good luck,Carl

You are shooting 16:9 Edit that way in Avid (monitors should be 16:9). After editing go to the fect tab in the project window. Find reformat: you have a option 4:3 side bar (that is edge crop in Avid) or use pan and scan (yhat gives you the option to determine yourself which part of the 16:9 frame you want to use in your 4:3 frame. Use the effect and export from there.
