Avid (windows) running under bootcamp on a Mac Pro

    Locked Contact

We recently buyed a HP XW8400 for editing a feature documentary in Avid xpress pro. It's been two months since, and we are having a ramdom issues with the workstation that is making us loose a lot of time. Also the HP technical suport is terrible, slow and bad.

Right now HP is offering us a New Workstation or a Refund.

We don't trust in HP anymore, so We are thinking maybe taking the refund and buying a MAC PRO Workstation for same price. $ 4500.

The dilemma is that we have 50 hours of DV material in three G-RAID Exernal hard drives in NTFS file system. So we need to know if we could work on a MAC PRO workstation with Avid in Windows OS via Bootcamp.

Is anyone using Avid (windows version) on a MAC PRO via bootcamp? Does it work smoothly?

    Running: Avid Xpress Pro 5.7.5

This is the spec of the MAC PRO:

    • Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core) “Harpertown”
    • 4GB (4 x 1GB)
    • 320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
    • 500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
    • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB (Two dual-link DVI)
