Hey All
i tried to read up some topics to see if anyone else had similar problem but couldnt found any.
i'm using xpress pro 5.6.4 on xp sp2,my system freeze and need a manual restart when i try to change video quality on timeline or using digital cut(changing output mode from RT DNA to RTDV 25,or closing the panel after using it)and sometimes when opening a project on reading a bin name, and also when i do a capture or just open a capture panel , after i try to close the panel while video signal is selected, .these only happens when mojo is connected and active output is on DNA, without it everything work smoothly.I also tested Mojo device on another avid system ver.4.6 and Xp SP1,mojo worked fine there.its nothing to do with my projects or my media folders since this happens even if i open a new project without any media.
after each crash i go check my event viewer log but there is no error or warning there.also checked IRQ assignment of my firewire port , no conflict there too.there is no extra storage connected to my system and this problem can happen with or without deck connected to mojo.
please help me this is getting really annoying
BUMP!!
i have another question , is it possible to get an output by 1394 and not by mojo from a project that created while mojo was connected?
Hi,
According to the Version Matrix, you should be running Quicktime 7.1 instead of 7.2. I'd try that first.
good luck,Carl

Hey Carl
thanks for response . I did a fresh windows install and avid package with QT 7.1 from my sorenson squeeze CD.problem still exist..
Regards
Alex
ok, I did some new tests and here are the results:
my friend have a system with avid xpress studio essential ver.4.5 on it.i installed a new window with my avid package on his system and clearly followed requirment and tips on the installation and fixed the settings, after all runned the avid program and still the lovely system freeze was there(can test it easily now just by changing the video resolution on an empty timeline).after that removed all the programs camed from my avid package and also nvidia driver plus QT from the system and installed my friend software with his dongle and other requirment stuff, system start to work smoothly as it was before , not a single crash
Now i wonder if my installation dvd which is original have the bug or my dongle or maybe there is something special with the requirment of my avid ver ,compare to my friend that i miss here.
i'm not working or using any HD or HDV material just DV 25.My avid package have also a DVD for installing avid studio toolkit 5.6 plus a CD for sorenson squeeze 4.3.3 and the Dongle isn' updated from the time i bought it.
Any idea about whats wrong here?
Cheers
WHat brand is your firewire card or better yet which chipset does it feature? Also only Mojo should be connected to the firewire card..nothing else.

Hey Menno
Chipset is Texas Instrument and yes ,only Mojo is connected to the firewire port.
hmmm and what pci slot is that firewire card on? Counting from the top..
mainboard i use (P5wd2-premium) have only 3 PCI slot (they are all free),plus a builtin firewire with TI chipset.
i'm using that 1 as my only port for connecting to mojo, checked the IRQ assignment on device manager and IRQ No. isn't share with anything else. As avid requirment said that for using only a mojo and not any other firewire device such as Lan or digi002 , you dont need to have an extra firewire port on PCI slot and a builtin one should work (which is working on my friend system already ).
i can obtain an ADSPYRO card with TI chipset to use on PCi slot if you think that can help me,but as i said on my previous post,my mojo have the same problem when installing on my friend system which he normally using his avid perfectly.
Alex, it could always be the mojo... hopefully not but could be. As far as Firewire and irq goes it is not the IRQ assignment that is important it is the bus that is important. Busses are the things that connect directly to the processor and mojo needs its own bus. Normal single core computers only feature 3. 1 for internal apps like onboard ethernet and or audio, 1 for AGP/PCI express vga card and one for the PCI slots.
You would need to check the blue pront of your main board to see how things run. It is why they always specced dual processor or dual (quad) core as they feature 2 more busses.
Ps besides the firewire remote does the do what it is supposed to do?
Thanku verymuch Menno.
problem solved by enabling Hyper-Threading Technology from bios and putting firewire card to slot 1.i putted that off cause long time ago i saw on some forum that avid recommend not work with that.
cheers
