Selecting ANYTHING under the Help drop down menu cause AVid to crash with a runtime error. Can't access help files or ANYTHING listed under "help".
Are you running IE7? I believe it can cause this problem.

I have the same problem. Every time I click on help, avid crashed. And I dont have IE7 or anthing like that on my rig. My work around to that is if you go in to your start menue and programs and then Avid. You can lunch Avid help from there.
What version are you guys running?
I too have this problem. I have just upgraded from Xpress Pro to Media Composer and it has happened on both MC2.8 and 2.8.3. I have a certified Dell M65 running IE6, and agree you can work around it... but its a bit annoying.

Sorry I should have added... has anyone managed to work out a solution for this?
Cheers
I had posted about this problem a couple of weeks ago. Thought I had it licked based upon the advice I'd received here, but it seems to have come back. My current workaround is to put a shortcut to the Help application on my desktop and remember to access it from there to keep MCA from crashing.
