the questin iwhat can i do so that it exports as a smaller file but with good quality..
I tried transcoding it to 2:1, 3:1 but 3 t one isn't looking that great...
i dont have sorenso squeeze and this is due by 7pm tonite..
any help is appreciated
What are you trying to make? A DVD or something that will fit onto a DVD?
How long is the program and what frame size do you need it to be?
Remember, Avid is really meant as a file converter, it's meant to output broadcast quality files. You really need to invest in a 3rd party app (like Squeeze) to do what you are asking it to do.

I was trying to export a file size small emough to author a DVD..
I finally figured i out (i outputted as a qt refrernce which ithen imported into my dvd arthoring program, sony architect)
the program is 1 hour at 45 mins..this qt refeence seem to have work....and the frame rate is 23.97..
but now that i've made the DVD another problem came u...as i played it back on my DVD player i notice that when ppl movethere is some strobing and minor jitters which is kinda nauseating...
do you know what may have caused this problem and how o correct it..
this is the second time this has hppened when i shot 24 and exported as 23.97..
any help is appreciated.
I'm not familiar with Sony Architect, but I assume that program is also doing the MPEG-2 encoding?
What you describe is indicative of a field-order issue (editing lower-field first but your encoding software is set for upper-field first.) But since you're working in 23.976 (or 24), you are progressive. Are you sure the encoding software can handle that?
And why, if you are editing 24, are you exporting 23.976? That might also be the problem.
Stay consistent from start to finish.
ok...
i am in a 23.976 project because based on this thread a while back
http://community.avid.com/forums/p/49132/276226.aspx#276226
I was told that to work with 24p footage i needed to bin that project and do the pulldow..so i assumed it was the case for this project which as the same...(note, the other project had that same issues)
I will check the DVD authoring software and see if there is a field selection choice or even if it couldhandle it..
