BLKDOG any problems exporting STL files?
Like when you open it, do you get the TC info? or all 00000000
thanks
Mike
Hi BLKDOG,
Are you working with the MC or Symphony software on that Nitris box? The thing that really sold me on the system I saw at NAB was the flexibility in the different flavors of HD and how flawlessly it worked with P2 media. They were running Symphony. I was so blown away, I didn't think to ask if the MC Nitris DX had the same flexibility. Is the AVC Intra-100 compatibility in the box or the software?
Thanks,
Andy
It's in the software brick.
Yes the MC has the same flexibility as the Symphony.

Thank You sir. Can't wait to get my hands on one.
BLKDOG: Dude, really. How many times do I have to tell you it's 4:2:2? I just told you it can do 6 streams on my box. 4 (so far in this sequence off of just FW!) When I disconnect the Nitris, I lose around two streams of playback.

I must have missed your reply re: 4:2:2. 4 streams off FW well that's not HD streams is it?
So the Mojo DX gives you how many extra streams? None? If that's the case $5k seems a tad steep for the hardware codec and a couple more connections on the Nitris box.
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply as I now have a much better idea what these boxes do and don't do that I wouldn't have been able to determine from the official Avid publications. Perhaps that wasn't a good thing for Avid.
VGUK2:4 streams off FW well that's not HD streams is it?
Don't confuse the transport medium with the data. And in any case I think that you may have misread. Neither box uses FW to talk to the host.
It appears that you're coming to this thread looking for something to sneer at. And doubtless if you look hard enough you'll find it. It's better though if you must sneer, to sneer at something that exists.
Those of us who use both FCP (myself included) and Avid find things to like about both platforms. Mojo DX may be something that we won't like, Nitris DX looks like something we will (if it's seen as affordable).
Just don't assume that if we prefer the Avid approach to FCP that we're incompetent with FCP.

1. I hadn't confused transport with FW and I know how these boxes connect. Thanks.
2. Sneering, well, maybe but at the ludicrous marketing (again). Certainly not at the users of Avid. Definitely sneering at Mojo DX and the price of Nitris DX.
Still can't help wondering how Avid will survive long term by raising the bar of entry with the pricing of MC, introducing a box that even Avid customers think is crap and a box that is priced out of the realms of many that would be interested in it. The new thinking would appear to be suspiciously like the old thinking.
I loved the other thread that concluded with all round back slapping and concluding that Apple wasn't a hardware or software company but a marketing company. Well, Avid certainly couldn't ever be accused of the latter could it?
Happy editing and peace..
I don't understand your logic. 5 streams (even more) of DVC Pro HD can be squeezed out of FW800 (ahem.. IoHD). And If you are not counting compressed - then Io HD must be a marketing term then? Nevertheless, you have not given an explanation where you got FW from? Or are you still unclear and just posting to flame?
VGUK2:So the Mojo DX gives you how many extra streams? None?
Not sure. But it does help with thin raster. A task FCP definitely needs help on.
VGUK2:Thanks for taking the trouble to reply as I now have a much better idea
Honestly, and with all due respect, I think you are being disingenuous. IMO, you arejust here to argue to convince the 'Avid camp' your point (FCP>Avid) and not on some high goal of fact finding.

Clearly Dom [Edited for personal attack]. I even quoted BLKDOG's message that contained FW. If he meant FW800 surely he would have said so. When FW is written most people would assume FW400.
You are entitled to think what you like frankly I don't care if you think I was genuinely interested in the DX hardware. I was interested to see what the new thinking had achieved and can categorically state for the record that I am absolutely not interested in the Avid product line.
My membership of this forum stretches back to Xpress DV/Pro times. I remember you were given a Mojo by Avid for your services to the forum. I voted with my feet and purchased a product that more accurately fitted my needs. I returned here when the new CEO was appointed to see what effect that would have on the Avid bohemoth. Clearly not as much effect as some people were hoping.
BTW are you a creative now or still in tech support?
Cheers

Now if they would just KILL Symphony and put all those development/marketing funds into one combined MC product...let us pick the IO for that one product....

VGUK2:Clearly Dom you [Edited for personal attack].
Clearly you resort to ad hominem when actual argument is lacking.
If your reason is because he mentioned FW drives then I do not understand your technical posturing over others when you very well know people have been pushing DVC Pro HD and HDV over FW (400 or 800) for years now.
Your 'genuine' interest seems to be questionable when you said it yourself there is nothing Avid can do to convince you.
VGUK2: I remember you were given a Mojo by Avid for your services to the forum.
More than this forum. I was also the lead in the old WWUG forum. I also helped in Cow. Not to mentioned I also beta tested. In that time, I was also offered to be featured for an AJA Io article (too busy). I also supervised shows that where onlined in FCP (including one that won an national Emmy). So if you are going to try to underhandly question my credibility - you may want to do some research first. I mean you are posting anonymously.
VGUK2:BTW are you a creative now or still in tech support?
Are your "genuinely" interested or an attempt at a cheap shot? Better do some research before I embarrass you again. (then again how one can be when one post anonymously)
If genuine - I do both.
If the latter - I make more money than most NYC editors (including ad agenciers and union ones).
I did mean FW 800 genius. A fact that Dom knows well because he his about the sharpest tool in any box.
I encourage you to edit your comments above and quickly or, out of my deep respect for Dom, I will.

Blimey you are a bit touchy. I am sorry but I haven't been embarrassed by you. How so?
I only mention the Mojo to fix my time in the group. Do you often go off on one like this? It's only Tuesday after all.
I'm glad you earn more than editors I've always thought discussing salaries is quite vulgar though. My question re: tech support was because you seem unduly fixated by tech specs that's all.
Dom, let's be clear as you don't seem to have quite grasped why I reenlisted on this forum. I _was_ interested in what changes a new CEO and "New Thinking" might bring. I am _no longer_ interested. Price/performance/functionality continue to favour FCP/Studio+3rd party hardware. I reserve the right to change my mind at anytime and purchase Avid equipment in the future should I determine price/performance/functionality is in Avid's favour. With your permission of course.
Have you tried turning it off and on again....
so is it true 20k for 2 extra streams?
will this be another adrenaline box?
