I temporarely switched from Xpress pro/mac to the latest version of MC/Windows and have a few questions (I work on macbookpro -newest version/dual boot windows xp):
1. where is the green/blue switch dot in the timeline to switch to client monitor (or how should i do that in Windows)?
2. where on the c/drive are the media-files located (I cannot find an omfi-file)?
3. what is the difference between 1080i/50 and 1080i/50hdv (or: which should I choose - when starting a new project - using my sony hvr/z1e filming 1080)?
4. Avid is very -too- bright on my (mac)-screen. How can I make it less bright?
Thanks for helping me out....

Make sure you have calibrated your monitor under the display system prefs(in bootcamp it's START>CONTROL PANELS>DISPLAY...I think...)first and then use the brightness adjustment on the keyboard.

The HDV project is for thin raster HDV media. If you aren't shooting in that format, just use the former.
sjon:2. where on the c/drive are the media-files located (I cannot find an omfi-file)?Are you saving media to your internal? There isn't a "C" drive on a Mac but one will be simulated in bootcamp. Your Media folders, if you are saving media there are on the root level of the drive.

There isn't one in MC.

thanks blkdg.
If there isn't a blue/green dot in MC, how can I switch/arrange output to the camera (and then to the client monitor). I hope it can be done in MC...!
Xpress hasn't had the blue-green switch for quite some time now.
...but still makes me wonder if I can (and how) to output from Avid > firewire > camera > client monitor. I used to do that all the time with the older xpress pro...
Sure you can. It's on all the time now.
so if it's not working, I should check my camera etc....Iow: there are no ways to configure this in MC. It works automatically (?)

Timeline hamburger menu - output over firewire. Or something like that.....Not infront of Avid right now. That caught me too after the upgrade to MC.
I was changing firewire cables and cycling camera power etc etc, till I sent the timeline out over firewire via the timeline hamburger menu.
Sorry - Could have sworn it was in that hamburger menu.
It is under - Settings, video display, output to DV Device.
