    Macbook Pro and Avid 2.6

     Ok so...

I have always been a PC user but is finally getting a macbook pro. 2.6 ghz..etc..

and I want to upgrade my composer soft 2.6.3 (i believe, its the one right before the intel support came out)..it is the academic version..

    my question is,

is it possible to upgrade my version of avid so that it can run properly on the macbook pro?

is it a problem that i have the academic version?

if i can upgrade whats the price?

i am just looking for some kinda of insight on how do i go about upgrading my media composer soft so that i will be supported and run on my new macbook pro that i am about to purchase...

any insight will be greatly appreciated...

Just upgrade to 2.8.3. I think it will  be $999 for you to get a full version (or do you want to stay Academic?) but call Avid inside sales to be sure.

Yes, you can. I think the upgrade from 2.6.x is $49 but check the store to be sure.
