Hey DIY'ers. Does anyone have MC Soft running successfully on a Intel Quad Core processor? If so I'd like to hear your experiences and which mobo your using. looking to get the advantage of the quad with other programs I use, namely Lightwave, but won't if MC won't run.
Thanks in advance.

It is my understanding that Avid won't take full advantage of the quad core's until MC version 3.0 is release tentatively in June 2008.
Thanks. I know MC won't utilize multi-threading until 3.0. What I mean is, will 2.8 function on a quad-core proc.
Yep, it does. I've worked on one.
Yes it does. We are runing MC Soft on our latest DIY6 machine. From our article:
Back in March Avid dropped the bomb on the industry. They cut the price of Media Composer in half to $2,495. Even more significant, they lowered the price of the upgrade to $495! With Xpress Pro owners now able toupgrade to Media Composer software for $495 we knew that we would be bombarded with questions about system compatibility. Even more important, we knew that many users would ask for guidance on building or buying a new machine for Media Composer. We had to make sure that DIY6 ran Media Composer great. So we popped out the Radeon card and went with the latest QuadroFX 1700 card. While not yet approved by Avid, we know that the FX1400 and FX1500 were our go to graphics card recommendations for Media Composer users. In fact, we found that most of our Media Composer software tech calls where graphics card related, and that upgrading to a QuadroFX card fixed the problems over 90% of the time!
We are happy to report that the FX1700 and Media Composer are running GREAT in our DIY6 machine.

Yes it does, specs you'll find in my profile. And awaiting 3.0 eagerly. The motherboard is an odd one out though, with the chipset by nvidia rather then intel, took it because it allowed more pci-e lanes then the more common intel board based on P35 offers.
Excellent!! Thanks all for the input, I think I'll take the plunge. Great article Gary, love your site. It's a great source for all us DIY'ers.
Thanks again!
Yep, I'm running MC 2.8.1 on an Intel Q6600 on a GigaByte GA-P35-DQ6 board. Works like a charm. Looking forward to version 3 though.
