Re: Xpress Pro 5.8.3 Now Available

I'm not sure Sad. Canon's 24F (XL and XH series of cameras) is different from 24P (HV series). So I don't know if what they are calling 24P includes 24F, so far it hasn't. And 24F uses pulldown flags while the HV's 24P does not use flags. So I'm not sure if the realtime pulldown removal works when there are no flags.

In which case, MC3 would be in an odd position concerning Canon cameras: 1) Not able to remove the pulldown from HV-20 or 30 footage but able to capture the footage (as it is today). 2) Not able to capture 24F but able to remove pulldowns with flags (which 24F does have).

Thanks for the effort, and I HOPE 24F support and intelligent pulldown removal (i.e. w/ no flags) is coming, but I've learned to not take anything for granted.

    Camoscato

    Thanks.

It would be a good idea to place your first post up-front as a sticky. I wasted a considerable amount of time after receiving the incomplete and inaccurate AVID email trying to download 8.3, even downloading the available 5.8 to which the AVID email link points in the belief that it was in fact 5.8.3.

This thread has provided no valuable information to the problem of multiple registration and the confusion of Avid emails sending you to links that you have to hunt down information and downloads.

    Please close this thread.

I would suggest that Avid not send out any more "new thinking" communication until they can get their system worked out in a more orderly fashion.

Yeah because if you look at the topic of the thread you will see that is not the point of it :/

Some of us volunteers and not associated with Avid was just being nice trying to help those having issues with their out of topic stuff. :/

I'm sure it is quite orderly to detour a thread and then ask for its closing because it does not resolve the hijacked problems at hand.

Why close the thread? The squeaky wheel gets the grease...

I'm not going to take the bait Dom. It has already been stated that everyone will have to wait while Avid overhauls the site and deals with the confusion of registration and downloads. All of which relate to AXP 5.8.3's access.

There is no bait. I just think it was quite out of line to request to close a thread because you where unsatisfied with the answer. Your issue is legit. You could have easily started a new thread and ask to close that- especially if you are so concerned with organized and efficient communication. Instead you detour this thread and then callously request to close it when it was not your thread to begin with. Not to mention the thread did offer valuable information to others following this thread - including the ReadMe file you requested.

As I said, I have no qualm with your issue. It is how you are handling it in this thread is my issue.

    An update for anyone interested:

I followed the instructions on the registration page, received the registration confirmation today, downloaded the files, and will install tonight.

Not too painful, really.  I'm just crossing my fingers that I'll be able to capture audio via direct DV input with tne new version.

That wasn't bait from Dom. He was just giving some intelligent feedback. If you want to be a rabble rouser all the time, go join Grinner and his supposed postings of "advice" on the Creative Cow board.
