Avid has release MC 2.8.3 as of 10:00 today. x.8.3 is a CPR release and not a full update. What is a CPR you ask?
A CPR is an update for Avid products intended to address specific problems. Because CPR testing involves a limited test cycle, CPRs should only be used when a customer’s specific issue has been resolved in that respective CPR. If you are unsure whether a specific CPR addresses your issue, check the accompanying release notes for verification. If the release notes do not mention a specific issue, you can contact Avid Technical Support, their Avid Account representative, or local Avid reseller prior to installing the software. CPR updates are cumulative- the current CPR includes all prior updates.
Requirements
These releases are for software-only, Avid Adrenaline™- and Avid Mojo® SDI-based systems running on Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs and PCs. The new x.8.3 CPRs, include support for Mac OS X 10.4.11, QuickTime 7.3, the Microsoft VC-1 codec, and Avid Interplay 1.2.3 (Windows). Additional enhancements are detailed in the ReadMe documentation found on the Avid Knowledge Base. You should definitely read this documentation before using any new software version.

As it's a CPR will it appear on the CPR FTP? It hasn't yet...
Helo there.
It will not appear in the CPR site as we are moving away from having softare in so many places on avid.,com. Everyone can get access to the Download Center now........ as long as you own a product and have registred it, go to:http://www.avid.com/support/downloadcenter/accountRequest.asp and request an account if you dont have one already.
You will only be able to see the products listed on the download center that they are entitled too based on registration and/or support contract status.

Opps. Never mind. Posted a questiosn without refreshing my page...
Is there a long wait for the password to return from registration? It's been a while now.
I recently upgraded from Xpresspro to MC (2.8). I am waiting for the Leopard upgrade (I have it only italled on Windows yet). Should I upgrade/download the 2.8.3. for Leopard and wait for the new upgrade or does the 2.8.3. upgrade not mean anything for Leopard and can I just skip this part?
2.8.3 does not support Leopard. Only 3.0 will do that.
I know that version 2.8.3 doesn't officially support Leopard, however at least with version 2.8 I could still install Media Composer on Leopard and take my chances. Unfortunately, this is not the case with 2.8.3.
BLKDOG, have you had any luck?
Sorry Taj. I'm not running 2.x right now.
no prob ;-)
hi there,
confused about "cpr" update. read through the readme file doc, saw a line about that ANNOYING center duration thing (drove me nuts in 2.7, thought t'was over in 2.8). i am registered, what's with the download center password? i don't have one and i'm still downloading mc 2.8 from the download center (nowhere it says it's the new 2.8.3) , i don't know if i'm doing the right thing here. do i have to uninstall 2.8 before i installing 2.8.3? i don't see anything about it? why does it have to be so complicated, or am i missing something?
thx
dom
duckyou:Is there a long wait for the password to return from registration? It's been a while now.
I applied last wednesday, it's tuesday now. Still nothing. I sent a mail on friday, no reply either... :-( Did you get yours, Duck?
Pierreh,
I'll take care of this as soon as I get in the office.
Last Friday I received a note from Avid that they received my request and that the password info would be coming in a different, future email.
Thanks in advance, Dog.

Jeff in our download center can’t find you based on the email you used to create your user name pierreh now can he find any email in the registration system with the ending of our email. He also searched for that company and came up empty handed.
Please send me a private email and let me know what region are you located in? What email address you sent the forum to avid under.... and the product you registered ( sys ID would help)
Once I get that I can assist you.
