BobbyMurcerFan:Eventual 24F support is great, but XL-H1 buyers may be moving over to Red's Scarlet.
...I doubt this. Red stuff was originally poised to be marketed at us digi-underground independent film makers, but this company obviously had a secret agenda. No digi-underground independent shooter has the dough to get near Red One or any other Red product for that matter. I think the Red stuff is great, but priced to supplant Panavision-not to be used by our market segment.
BobbyMurcerFan:It should have become clear on day two that Avid needed work with this format.
....They wait to see how loud the bitching gets, then they act accordingly. In the case of 24F, it took this long for the bitching to get loud enough to embarass this company to act.
The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0

Hardly.
The development process is long. Too long in Avid's case but I know that Gary and Kirk are working to shorten it.
The length of time to get a new codec into a software development cycle has everything to do with beuracracy and red tape and very little to do with bitching and moaning.

....You may be right. (??)

Sadly, I'm sure this is hardly the only time this exchange has happened:
"That leaves Avid as the only major player that can't do 24F. Which is the No. 1 reason I bought a new FCP system this past Feb. instead of going back to Avid's Media Composer which I find easier and faster to use."

Hello,
Can any one give us an update on this issue? I have been holding off on getting FCP...but I am beginning to run out of time to be patient...Is there any hope Avid will have this before the end of the year?
Lorenasa,
I cant comment on a non releaaed format or feature but I can tell you this is in the plan and being worked on now. Wish I could say more but thats is all I can for now....

I see we have a new release of 3.1.2 but curiously there is no mention of 24f in the readme. Is this something that is actually never going to take place?
This release was to specifically address only a couple of features one of which was Mac OS 10.4 compatibility and the other being the Video Satellite feature for Pro Tools. Other features and functions will be rolled out in the next Major release, not in the point releases that comwe out failry regularly.
It's coming...
I have been hearing its coming for 6 months now...so i was disappointed when I did not see it here. Any idea of when we are going to see this for real?
honestly, I don't know everything I can say being that I am working on the beta version. but, it is alive and functional - being that I shoot in 24f on the xha1.
I am glad to hear it is functional, I just wish I could get a hold of it! I tried to sign up for beta as Marianna had suggested, but I was not able to access the page to join beta, so i am waiting, and and waiting...and I was very disappointed it was not included in the last update...
Oka, so I now have version 3.5 all in anticipation of the 24f functionality...hoping that this actually works after Avid milked more money out of me so I could get this functionality....so then what are the settings I need to use I see nothing in read me and there is not an import setting called 24f... so what gives?
I have 3.5 now as well, and we still cannot capture from it. I am curious to know as well how do we set up a project to capture Canon's 24F mode.
Maybe you guys can pick up a copy of Liquid on EBay- works like champ with both 24F and 30F.
