Hi
We have XPRO which we hate. Is there any benefit besides a very expensive break out box that one gets by going to, sepcifically, Adrenaline? (I dont mean MC Soft)
Also, if Adrenaline only hooks up by FW, doesnt that mean all the same ridiculous FW problems will be around to haunt me? Are there other ways to hook up Adrenaline to a PC?
FCP looking more and more attractive
Eating is a moral act. If you eat meat from factory farms, you partake in a system of cruelty, violence and evil. Always take sides. To be passive empowers the oppressor.
you are aware that there is brand new hardware replacing the Adrenaline in June right?
No I will research it -- unless you can kindly tell me where to look?

We have XPRO which we hate.
If you hate Xpress Pro, I fear even the new Avid solutions won't be your ideal solution. Now question should be,"why do you hate AXP ?" Bacause of it's interface ?.

Hate is a strong word. Sorry. Our issues are as follows. If they will be solved with the new gear we would go to it but if it will just be more of the same (A-la Bush administration to McCain) I would prefer not to upgrade.
1) Video tearing in the PC monitors. Apparently cannot be solved. Have had 2 certified avid techs on it. Asked on the Forums. Endless changes of hardware, settings - etc etc etc. Found some people who went through same thing and could not solve either. Finally gave up. Seems a little ridiculous.
2) No ability to do frame accurate editing with our deck - AJ HD 1400, and this is WITH RS422. People say we need to do a delay of 9 frames. With our deck it is 4 frames one day, 9 another -- today it was 20. In the meantime we are destroying our master tapes when we cannto do inserts. People blame the deck. Oy. Had same issue with 2 other decks on two other systems at two other companies. This is on AVID.
3) Regular "cannot find deck" issues. Seems this should have been solved in the last 9 years people have been complaining about it. Happens all the time.
4) Overall lack of stability. Seems like our systems are worse than other places.
5) Stutters on digital cut outputs
6) no HD breakout -- have to use the deck to see the video on the monitor. This is just laughable. I heard FCP solved this issue -- yes?
If we will get a lot more stability with the new system we would do it.
If I were you, I would NOT buy an Adrenaline, even if you could get it cheap.
The new DX line is SOOOO much better with the PCIe bus than the Adrenaline will ever be on FireWire.
The responsiveness of the systems is similar to Meridien systems, which is what we were waiting for.
Then again, maybe you would want to buy ours... :)

Sounds great. Any idea what a full system will cost when its out the door? With all bells and whistles?

However Nitris DX was given for $12 500 without software, or did I dream ?
I thought $12.5K was MC soft and Nitris DX The $21K was turnkey with CPU and storage(?)
Mojo DX = $7.5k, MC soft = $2.495, here tha addition is corect.
I can upgrade to MC soft now for $495. Should I do that and then get the box for $7500 when it comes out? Or will my $495 upgrade option be gone by then
Also, does Nitirs DX connect via PCI card? Is MC the only AVID version for this Nitris DX ?
Not sure about the pricing (will ask) but both the Mojo DX and Nitris DX connect via PCI-e. And you can run either Media Composer or Symphony software with the Nitris DX.
