Big question. Will there be any kind of upgrade pricing from Adrenaline to Nitris DX in the same way as the Mojo to Mojo DX upgrade where you get to keep your old Mojo as well?

I had been looking at getting the DNxHD card for my Adrenaline so the Nitris DX with its HD capabilities would be ideal.

 It seems Avid plans an upgrade from Adrenaline to Nitris DX. AFAIK it won't be a BIG price difference from the regular purchase price of a new equipement vs the upgrade. In my case, if we decide for a Nitris DX in the future, we prolly keep the Adrenaline BOB, for the price difference it will represent. (according to the fact we bought a DNxHD board, 1 year ago).

However, our Meridien will a a "bargain" element, if avid accepts an upgarde deal. this way.

Seeing as I can upgrade the Xpress Pro licence I have got to MCSoft it would be good to hold on to the Adrenaline for use as a 2nd machine. Would have to get a new Host CPU anyway since my old HPxw8000 is getting a little long in the tooth.

But lets have a nice promotional upgrade offer please! Or maybe some cheap deals on excess stock DNxHD cards!

In both cases, I would check with your reseller.  They are the ones that have information on upgrade paths from both Adrenalines and Meridien systems.

I think the 'gotcha' in all this will be whether you have a valid assurance contract or not.

Even with contract, without any speculation, I don't know how a very intersting upgrade price would be proposed to Adrenaline owners, according to the fact that Adrenaline + DNxHD board has been (for me) REALLY MORE expensive than the Nitris DX.

The last 2 years MCA assurance has cost me $6k local and got me 2 $1.3k local software upgrades. Hardly value for money.

Will MCA upgrades drop to MC soft upgrade prices?

Will MC with Nitris DX cost $995 for upgrades?

Will MC with Mojo DX upgrades be $995 

Will MC soft be $995 (very steep on $2495 software) or $195. 

Very hard to run a business when basic costs like this cannot be factored in.

I just would like to add that Avid keeps the "purchasing power" to people who recently bought a nMCA . (I know someone who has bought 5 MCA's recently)

Yes I do have Assurance and we actually had a 5 year old Adrenaline Box pack up on us last year which was replaced by Avid with a new one very quickly. So in this case it was worth the 5,000 pounds stirling or more I have forked out over the years.

I agree that given the New cost of Adrenaline against the new cost of Nitris DX the trade in would have to be virtually free especially if they want the old box back. In fact Avid should pay me to try Nitris out for a year!
