This is again a request to Genarts about their pricing policy.
I love Sapphire plug ins, I however deeply disagree with the prices. Now MC is priced at $2995. Sapphire for MC is $2800, that is to say 93.5% of the software price, what's your opinion about this, guys ?
Same thing about the upgrade price, this might be interesting for all AXP users, who upgraded to MC, never say you have an MC, you'll save $300, because the upgrade MC price is $900, and the AXP upgrade price is $600

Hey Sep,
Terribly overpriced. They may be the best thing since canned beer but I'll never know that as I ain't paying close to 3k for pug ins.
I have been in touch with them for several times, speaking about that, I've, for the moment, refused to upgrade our 1.3 version, which was itself overpriced. Now they wanna charge me for $900 because I am a MCA user, $600 for AXP, where is the difference, the plug ins are THE SAME !!!
I agree with you 100% sep. I had the sapphire 1 plug-ins on an Xpress Meridien system I was using at my last job. They are hands down the best plug-ins I've ever used, but they cost far too much, especially since the price of Media Composer has dropped.
What's even worse is that the entire Sapphire package for other, comparable systems (Adobe AE, Premiere and Premiere Elements, FCP, Autodesk Combustion, Eyeon Fusion, and Quantel with Synapse) is $1,699! Avid MC package: $2,800! Even the Xpress Pro and Xpress DV Sapphire Package cost $1,800, which is more than the same package for FCP. I'm sorry, but FCP is a much more powerful system than Xpress DV, and they get a break on the price? Ludicrous.
Don't get me wrong, I love Sapphire Effects, and some of the best support I've had was from Genarts, but their pricing is more out of line than Avid's.

Happy you agree with me , Michael. I hope other Avid users will claim here, their opinion about Genarts pricing policy, thanks again.
.- Well, they are expensive not only for Avid, for ANY other.
Want to save?
Buy the Avid Xpress pacakge, is EXACTLY the same as the MC package.
The same applies to Boris FX.

That would be dishonest.
Kegged beer is better for those wee avid problems

For sure, a cracked version is even cheaper !!!!!!!!
raspago: .- Well, they are expensive not only for Avid, for ANY other.
Yes, but particularly expensive for Avid, re read Micheal's post.
.- Dishonest?
Selling the exact identical software for $ 1,0000.00 more, because they suppose you are richer.
That's dishonest and unethical.
They spend exactly the same amount of money and time doing the R & D for the Xpress version and the MC version.
That's dishonest and classist.
The only two developers I know that do so are Genarts and BorisFX.
.- I think there is a "small" difference between $ 1.800.00 and free.
OK,, then be honest, pay for the $ 2,800 package and don't complain.
I don't own it anyway.
Even at the Xpro price it's very expensive.
.-The BCC package that comes bundled with MC is excellent, more than enough for me.

100¨% agreed, maybe you are not aware of it, but it's the topic of this thread.
100 % agreed!!! I couldn't belive it when I went to buy another license. They aren't that great. In fact I think BCC is superior with more tools and much the same FX, unless you count "JPEG damage" which you know I use ALL THE TIME!!
Red Ochre:In fact I think BCC is superior with more tools and much the same FX
Perhaps to a certain degree this is true, say with glow and blur effects, but BCC (at least v3) has nothing that even comes close to and offers even a fraction of the versatility of the Sapphire Film Effect. I do not intent to get drawn into the price debate here, I just wanted to make this point.
