Hey there...
Im trying to import footage shot on a Panasonic P2 to Avid. It was shot 720 30pn over 24 frams per seconds to try and match all the other cameras we were using to shoot a live DVD for a band.
When I import the MXF files with the Media Tool on MC 2.81, the only project setting it will work with is 720 29.97 HDV OR 30i. All others tell me I can't view the 29.97 footage unless it matches the project file, which all makes sense.
But the problem is the footage looks like its sped up about %25 too fast when I play it back. I've tried to sync it with the audio, and it is obvious it is too fast. Im really confused why something shot at 30pn over 24 fps will play back so fast....it doesn't make sense to me. I have tried it on 2 different avids with the same results.....Anyone have any solutions?
Thanks!
You shot 30pN with the framerate at 24? That would mean you undercranked and it turned it into fast motion video. If you wanted regular motion you should have shot 30pN with the framerate at 30.

That's what I thought....but our DP assured us that this would work. So does this mean we're screwed? Is there any way to fix it?
You might be able to slow down the video by 25% but I don't know how that's going to look. But other than that I don't think there's anything.
I did try slowing it down already and it looks terrible. Doesn't even come close to looking like the other cameras. This is really bad news...
If you tried 25%, try 20%, because 20% of 30 is 6 frames and that might pull up the 24 to 30.... whereas I'm thinking 25% pulls the 24 upto about 31-32fps; Although that's not all that much of a difference.
In the future, you might want to post in the proper forum. This is the Xpress DV forum.
