AXP to MC 2.8 to MC 3.0

I have tried to search the forums to see if anyone else brought this up, but is there any word on pricing to upgrade to MC 3?

Specifically, I am sitting on a xpress pro 5.8 license wanting to upgrade to MC, but I don't know if I upgrade to 2.8 now, will I need to pay an additional price to go to version 3?  Or, if I wait for version 3's release, will I only need to pay a single price for the upgrade.

    Thanks

There is not and there will not be until closer to release time. I am trying to find out what the general path will be and, if I do, I'll let you know.

Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

Does anyone know if Avid DVD will be available as part of the download? With MC 2.8 came with DvDit V6 which i don't think has the Blu Ray feature which Avid DVD has.

    Any one know?

    Hi,

    Check out the 3.0 FAQ.

    Q. With the new $2,495 price for Avid Media Composer software, are there any changes to the box content (third-party software, manuals)?
    A.
The Avid Media Composer software box content  remains unchanged and includes third-party software and printed manuals.

    Third party applications include:
               • Avid DVD by Sonic - Industry-leading DVD authoring (Windows only)
               • Boris Continuum AVX - Comprehensive library of customizable video filters and transitions
               • Sorenson Squeeze - Multimedia export with customizable compression templates
               • SmartSound Sonicfire Pro - Automated music track creation

    good luck,

    Carl

Re: AXP to MC 2.8 to MC 3.0

     Thanks Carl,

I read that but thought that would just apply if you buy a new liscensed copy of MC3.0. When I purchased the boxed upgrade, DVDit 6.0 was on a seperate CD. On previous upgrades (on AXP) all that was actually downloadable was the editing software, the Goodies but not any 3rd party software, I guess the assumption was that you already had it. It seems Avid DVD has some new features that I could well use in the future. I guess i will have to wait and see, maybe as it is different to the currently bundled DVD software they may include it in the download.

    Thanks again

    Hi Graham,

Sorry about that, I didn't see in your post when I first read it that you were asking specifically about the download rather than the boxed version.

    adios,

Re: AXP to MC 2.8 to MC 3.0

    No probs Carl.

Is there going to be a boxed version of the upgrade? i thought it was just a download (could well be wrong). Ii guess it would be possible as all the manuals that camr with the 2.8 upgrade have refererrences to Mojos and Adrenalines so are already going to be out of date and I guess updated versions will be shipped with the V3.0 software but maybe not foe the upgrade. Not over worried about that but I would like Acid DVD so will wait to see how it pans out.

    All the best
