P.S. My 1972 VW does still get me from A to B. Just slower!

Seriously though I bought Adrenaline with a xw8000 within the 1st year and have been holding out on an upgrade ever since the xw8200 was introduced. Now with the Quad Core Vista 64bit and the Nitris DX there is enough of a serious performance boost to make the upgrade worthwhile. Plus 4 years is enough time to have written off the old kit from a financial point of view.
If I'd gone with a new CPU everytime HP came out with one and caved in to my reseller's desire to get me on to Symphony two years ago then I might be p***ed off.
As it is I am looking at what is a pretty cheap upgrade compared to my original investment and hopefully another 5 years before I need to do it all again.
Nitris DX XL Elite anyone?
So I just went Xpress to MC 2.8 today (although it is still in the box, as I'm paranoid about upgrading mid job, and not being able to roll back to Xpress if I have hardware or other issues in order to finish the project). I therefore am upgrading the current hardware and gathering the bits. Have a Quadro 1500 on the way, but, ohh, which processor, and with V3 in mind????
Dual Core or Dual Core Quad? If I get the Quad and V3 does NOT use the quad cores than I gave a slower PC than if I had bought a faster dual for same cost?
Anyone in the know??? [Also any tips on next years Grand National horserace winner v welcome... ;)]

MC 3, XP SP2, Asus P5K-E Mobo, Dual Quad Core 2.4Ghz CPU (3.0 Ghz if I'm up against it!), 4Gb 800Mhz RAM Dual channel, 4 x 500Gb SATA Stripe O pairs, Quadro FX 1500 GFX, Soundblaster Audigy, Mojo SDi. Sony PVM CRT. Approved Avid HP 8240 Notebook. Original DIY PC: Shuttle SN85, AMD 3200, 1Gig Ram, Quadro 980, on board sound, on board firewire, 2 x SATA + WD ext HDD - could that be less 'compatible? Never hiccuped once! :-)
Go quad.
v3 will use quad - I think even octo. No point in getting dual CPU as Intel phasing it out on the mid and high-end market (it will remain in the low end/low power level).

Has a price for upgrading to V3 been announced? And does anybody know if it's another dongle upgrade or not?

If you upgrade to V2.8 now, V3.0 will be free for you.

I read that DVCPROHD sould be full resolution in V3, but couldn't work out if it was just with the hardware, or if MC3 software alone would display full res? Anyone?
Many thanks

Software too

I'm not sure what you mean by "full res," but do you mean will DVCPro HD playback in green/green mode? If you have new DX hardware attached, you can take advantage of the Native Thin Raster size and playback DVCProHD out of the hardware in green/green with no transcoding.
If you have an Adrenaline, you will still not be able to playback in green/green mode and see it on the monitor. You must still transcode before final output via Adrenaline.

Hey not sure if it's been asked but will MC 3.0 support multi frame rates on same timeline?

I hope not.

The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0
I'm pretty sure it won't.
