AndrewAction: Job ter Burg:TC I/O over XLR (just like 'old' Nitris)Thank goodness I kept those old cables. WTF would you go back to using XLR's for TC when you are already short of backplane real estate? Interesting to see if the new thinking has them change the XLR's pin assignments just because they can.

There's something I misubderstand here !

Thanks sep,
I had already seen those, I thought you had found some glossy brochure type thing with nice colour pictures and stuff in PDf.
Thanks again
Do you mean a picture like this ?

That's the kind of thing,
saw it in the earlier thread you started about is adrenaline dead. I guess Avid will bring out some official literature in due course.
Ii am a bit suprised that particualr post hasn't been edited out in view of the controversy surrounding its posting.

I was thinking (or not) more about every professional deck here having TC on BNC's for more than two decades (read note to self above and checked the dusty old Sony UMatic HiBand (from the early 80's) in the corner and it has BNC's for TC) If you have a 2 point connector on one end then why use a large 3 pin connector on the other end.
So I should now modify my comment to "WHY would you CONTINUE to USE XLR's for TC when you are already short of backplane real estate?

Yes, the U-Matic Hi Band VTR's (we already have one, a Sony BVU950, we keep our older shots, and want to be able to play them), had a BNC connector for TC, right.

Yes, it is a good setup. You would probably get a bit more out of it if you install Vista 64bit if you can get drivers (and then turn down all of its gizmos).
Then, I should be ok with the current system. I just have to install the windows Vista 64 bit. What about my CPU at 3.0 GHZ? Should I upgrade the CPU to 3.66?

I've never really understood why analog timecode, an audio signal, should be sent via BNC. Until Sony introduced the idea for space reasons no-one ever did. Avid never have, and nor has Lightworks. No master timecode generators did (not true now though).
Why criticise Avid for persisting in using a widely accepted audio connector for an analog audio signal?

DVW500? XLR.
BVW75? XLR.
Or aren't these professional decks?
I understand this is not your first language but you may notice I qualified "every professional deck" with HERE" I dont know anyone would have seen, let alone remember the TC IO, for every professional deck.
All the professional cameras I have known over 2 and a half decades have also use BNC's for TC IO's
I'm not sure that I appreciate the tone of voice, Andrew. For the record: 'where'? In your office? In your part of the world? Must be my English, I guess.
To me, DVW and BVW machines were pretty much industry standard over the past two decades you were referring to.
But can't we agree that it doesn't really matter? Both XLR and BNC TC I/O's have been around for decades. I'm sure it has to do with the use in both video and audio environments, just like AES 75 and AES 110.
Avid isn't really doing anything wrong or different. A storm in a glass of water, as we say 'here'.
Does anybody know if there are any timecode in and outs on the Mojo DX at all?
