Any captured material I play inside avid - is always displayed in black and white. When the video is paused and when advancing frames by frames - it shows the colors normally.
(Trying to search for posts from people who had a similar problem always yields results with questions about how to make a clip black and white... :( )
I'm running 5.0 on Windows XP SP2.
My video card is NVidia GeForce 8800GT.
The driver version is the latest: 6.14.11.6921
I cannot "rollback" to older driver versions that are more "supported" by Avid (like 77.18 or 77.77) - since these only support older cards (6 & 7 series) - when I try to run their setup - it tells me it can't find the right hardware.
I've read and heard from people - that the 8800 should work fine.
Buying another "older" card - is currently not an option.
Any advices will be appreciated...!
Thanks,
- Yuval
I would try running the latest driver from NVidia, 91.85. I have a Geforce FX5200 and its great with it. MC 2.8.1.

Avid version 5 and that card/driver... do not waste your time. Get up to 5.8 or get another card and driver.

seriously, you can fudge on a number of Avid's "certified" specs with relative success... but when it comes to video card & driver issues, you're moving onto the VERY thin ice where avid is Most sensitive & finicky. i myself used to try to get by, but with the 5.x releases of AXP, i learned the hard way you're almost guaranteed some kind of headache if you don't fall in line in this one area.
my advice, save yourself the inevitable trouble & use a certified card & driver. check my specs & note my video card & driver. it's one of the least expensive certified cards & it works like a charm.
good luck!
