Please help! I am exporting a qtref file out of avid. I open sorenson 4.5 and import the .mov file and it plays audio and video. I choose mpg 1/2 then open the drop down menu and choose DVD_NTSC_LG and dble click on it. Audio details: MPEG layer 2 audio, 224 kbs, sample size 16, sample rate 4800, stereo. Both audio and video are checked. Video details: MPEG2 video 1 pass cbr 7800 data rate ntsc 720 480 29.97 fps. Hit ok, apply, squeeze it. Open DVDIT, file, add movie, choose _DVD_NTSC_LG.m2v and dbl click which imports my movie onto my timeline. I play it in preview (under title) and there's no audio!! There's a video line w/my sequence and under that there is a small box w/"A1" then the language choice, then a yellow ball then a lock which is unlocked. Why can't I hear my audio in preview? I burned the dvd and there's no audio on that either. What am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

M2V is a video stream, you need to add the audio stream seperately in DVDiT.
correctamundo and besides that stay away from mpeg audio and go AC3. CHeck out the must read on the index of the pro forum and get into the how to DVD section There are a few links on how to get WAV to AC3 etc.

If you want one video MPG file that automatically brings in the audio with the video (makes 1 mpeg file with both aduio and video) instead of the mv2 file thing and then bringing in Audio then in sorenson squeeze simply in the MPEG large one simply go up to the top where it says "elementary" and make teh drop box open up and select "program" this will make 1 Audio video file.
You can do just the elementary file and select a hire or lower data rate using the CBR rendering method and then bring in the audio to your DVD authoring software and choose to convert it to AC3. The benifit there is that if you have a larger file then you can easilty and more quickly render to a lower data rate to fit on a regular size DVD. OF course by choosing to convert audio to AC3 you save a lot of space and thus can choose a higher data rate for the video.
Hope this helps.
Also note you can render in CBR elementary and vary your data rate. rendering in CBR in the "program" on my software anyway makes the data rate inchangable. Of course you can still render it 2-VBR and adjust the average data rate max and min to get an appropriate data rate and the MPG file is true here to if program is slecected instead of elentary. this is better for things that have a lot of fast motion in them like sports.
Just as a matter of interest I also change the I-frame rate for sports down to 6. This helped prevent a flicker on the television station that stuff broadcasts on.
Good luck

wow I didn't understand a word the guy above me just said. Anyway, I'm having this "problem" too. I guess I just don't quite understand sorenson. I go to export to DVD_NTSC_Lg and it gives me a seperate audio and video file... the audio file I can't seem to import into Avid DVD. How do I make the AC3 file and what rate do I make it at? And is there a way to link them so that it's just one file?

But, what if you want HD with the audio file for the web. I did what you said for mpeg 2 LG. But, I want 1920:1080 for the web with audio.
I have to be missing something here????

QT Ref out of Xpress Pro into Sorensen Squeeze, but in this case, use a different preset in Sorensen Squeeze. Look in the workflow list for web formats. There are presets for Windows Media, Quicktime, Flash, etc. Choose the one that fits your needs for quality/file size.
good luck,Carl
