On two different computers in my office (one a mac pro and one a g5) , after the most recent update of avid we are having Kernel panics at the start up of Avid, neither computer has had new ram put in, After effects has been running, but not doing anything on a majority of the kernel panics but not all. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
5.5 is not the most current version of the software and will not run on a MAc Pro.
It is only qualified for the PPC Macs and only on 10.4.6 and QT 7.1.

ok well then on the G5 I'm running 5.8.0, and OSX is 10.4.11. Not to worried about the mac pro right now.
The mac pro is running 5.8.0 not 5.5, that was my bad.
Ok...are these systems on a shared storage environment?
no, not yet at least, in about 2 weeks they will be but not yet
Ok..you will want to wait until the next software update to do MXF media as there is a bug on the Macs with MXF and shared storage.
Can you tell me at what point in the Launch process the kernel panic happens and what hardware is connected to the systems?
It happens Immediately at the startup before anything comes up, the only hardware is the mojo. Sometimes after effects is running when this happens.
Ok, let's shut down AE and disconnect the Mojo. Do the errors still happen?
Well It doesn't always happen. It's off and on.
I would still run without the Mojo for a while to see if anything improves. Kernel panics are 99% hardware related. If we can eliminate the easy stuff, we can figure out what's wrong.
You don't have anything like a USB hub or something attached, do you?
