Is there a less expensive alternative to Apple's memory?

I'm upgrading to MC and need to boost the memory in my G5 1.8.

Has anyone had success using memory other than Apple?  I few years ago,  I put some Kingston in another Mac,  and it was problematic.

You need to be extremely careful when using sites like this. A lot of the ram they list is "Value Ram". That's another word for composite ram. Basically, after the first line ram is punched out, the left-overs are re-composited together and Value Ram is re-stamped from the new composite. This type of ram has a much higher failure rate than the firs-line stuff you buy at a regular price.

Be very careful what you are paying for.
