I work as a chief editor in a news channel. we recently acquire Interplay for editing/playback operations, We work with newscutter running on the latest models of HP workstations. And I`m really suffering every time I have to ingest footage that came in P2 cards o P2 stores, here is what happens:
If the card has 5 clips that were recorded, there are times when it looks like the are 15 when I do the "import clips to bin".
I make the consolidate/import media and the software import the 5 clips and the other 10 leaves them with a cyan mark like if I didn`t consolidate at all. (this cyan indicates that you are still working from the media in the card and that you did not import the media to the ISIS)
This would be great if it would do it every time, but there are times when all the clips are imported to the ISIS.
THe people who give us technical support here in Argentina doesn`t have a clue and I really want to get in touch with a news channel that works whit P2 cards/newscutter/interplay workflow
Hope someone can help me
Nicolas
Nicolas. I moved this post to the interplay forum in order to get you some help quicker. Menno should be along soon to help you out.
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

ive seen this too, i think its a P2 issue, not an interplay one.
i had a crew come back from Scotland with P2 media copied to a HDD as virtual cards, and the clip info will import for all the clips, but the import>p2 media function is hit or miss for some clips.
i get random audio media missing (i.e. tracks 1,4 on some clips, 2,3 on others), and video that wont consolidate at all. the consolidate dialogue and status bar comes up, zips through...then nothing.
the super trick of just ripping the MXF media from the card into the AvidMediaFiles>MXF folder and using the media tool to generate master clips doesn't work for the clips in question either.
MCSoft2.7.7 Mojo SDI ISIS 1.4 Inteprlay 1.1.6.
here is a pretty good step by step of P2 workflow :

i did wonder if it originated from clips that spanned cards, but since the cards were copied one at a time to the HDD through the PCMCIA slot on a laptop, if that metadata got lost, but my loathing for P2 in the context in which we work has degraded my morale and caused my stomach to bleed more than it usually does.
the only other inkling i get is that the local media indexer on the Avid hadn't caught up setting the path (if you go into Interplay service config, you'll see that in MIService automatically initializes a path to the card, or virtual card, as the case may be), and that might be part of my problem.
P2. brilliant technology, bad idea.
Nicolas: why don't you try to create a sequence with the desired clips and then consolidate that sequence into ISIS?
Saludos!
If you want a really good workflow for P2 + Interplay + Isis. I recommend that you have the absolutley latest versions. There has been a lot of new features and fixes in the latest versions.
MC 2.8 or higher + Interplay 1.2 or higher + Isis 1.4 or higher
I know of atleast one site with these versions and P2 works perfectly.. (spanned media also)
If P2 is important, I would recommend that plan in a site upgrade if possible.
MC 2.7.7 (And compatible interplay + isis package) does work too, but sometimes you might see cosmetic errors in the bin.
(If your timeline is in pink in the bin, that means that you have mixed resolutions in the sequence.)
