EyeBee:BTW, it is almost as big as an omission as being unable to colour correct a foreground layer in Spectramatte without affecting the keying ...DOH!
Makes you miss the Meridien Symphony's RT Ultimatte doesn't it.

Absolutely Terence - and I don't think we should hold our breath for any improvement on both these fronts in Nitris DX. (Although it would be most welcome to think that Avid had been listening ...)

I swear I just did this! You need to step into the foreground layer clip and you can CC as normal (you can't see your changes with the background at the same time until you step out though...but with some mapping you can go back and forth quite quickly).....

When you do this you are affecting the the key source. Which mens you are affecting the color that keys. Which means you can goof you key up trying to get people to look good.
In Ultimatte, you can color correct the foreground and background DOWNSTREAM of the matte key.
I begged for this in Spectramatte, but as with most tools in the past, once Avid builds it, they think they are done. Maybe things will change, we'll see.
Ha!
I just realised my colour corrections worked perfectly ONLY because I was only changing the Luma Curve in the CC tool, which didn't affect the spectramatte ...woops
oh well...sorry about that

Totally why I miss Ultimatte and it's the reason I've resorted to Boris Continuum Complete chroma keys -- in addition to the ability to nest various matte enhancers and cleanup filters, as well as soft drop shadows, you can CC with a BCC color-correct downstream of the key -- not the full-featured Symphony CC, but sometimes it's all I need. Other times, I'm knocking my head.
Would sure be great to have as an enhancement to the Avid feature-set, but as long as there are so many viable plugins to do the task, I wonder if Avid will really ever address it.

Same here, but it's an awful render hit. So I try Spectra first and then go BCC if that won't cut it.
Ditto. BCC has great keying tools, I especially like the light wrap, which will only work if you use BCC for keying as well, so I tend to use it alot. I end up needeing to rendering everything anyways (whether real-time or not) for exporting so that's not an issue for me. I'll usually try Spectramatte first and BCC second.
I wasn't around Nitris in the Ultramatte days so I don't know what I'm missing :)
