How can I get the Avid MEdia Composer Blur Effect into Avid Xpress DV? This effect is a standard Composer effect, but i would like to use it in Xpress too. Is this possible at all?
Hi
The blur style effects are not available in Xpress DV. You will either need to upgrade to MC, or you can try a 3rd party plug-in vendor. Remember to check plug-in compatibility with your version of Xpress DV...

Ok, så there is no possibility to just copy it over? Or find a crack or something? We have like 10 licenses on Xpress, and one MC, and to make the Online Editors work easier, we would like the regular editors to blur before we send it to the online editor, so he don't have to use 3 hours just bluring. Is there any possibility that Avid may sell us only this effect so we can install it on Xpress? Or as i already said, find a way? That would really help us saving some time, and so the Online Editor can use his time on what he really should be doing

Hi,
Did you seriously just ask on an Avid forum if someone would give you a crack so you could run Media Composer effects on Xpress DV?
At any rate, the answer to all your questions is no. No, you can't just copy it over; no, you can't buy effects individually, and emphatically no, nobody here is going to help you crack the program. You can upgrade your Xpress DV systems to Media Composer for $1000.
adios,Carl

What you CAN do (legally) is create and render the effect in MC, then move the project to DV express. It will playback the rendered blur effect but DON'T make any changes to that effect in DV express or it will become unusable. If you need to make any changes to it, you will have to go back to MC.

Yes i did ask, cause it would save us alot of money, offcourse i know the easiest way is to buy MC, but since we are kinda small company, we can't afford that investment yet, so I just asked if anybody knew any soulution except upgrading, but I understand this is no possibility, so we'll have to keep it going, and use our Online Editor to blur, but thanks for all advises

I love this. Yes it saves you a lot of money. So does stealing a car but it doesn't make it legal and I sure wouldn't ask on Porsche's forums how to rip off a 911!

{sarcasm on} Oh, well as long as you have a good reason for stealing, then it's not wrong.
Composite Suite includes Fast Blur (free) and I'm nearly 100% confident that it's compatible with MC.
