I recently upgraded from AXP to MC. I am getting this message
"Unable to create index for editor slide files. To create the index, launch the editor once from an account with administrator privileges."
as well as
"Media will be unavailable inthe media directory: Harddrive:Applications:Avid Media Composer:SupportingFiles:Avid_Mediafiles"
as well as an Unsuported Resolustion error (but I have found some info on that one)
I'm grateful for any assistance
It s imperative that you install the software from within a user that has full Administrative privileges?
Have you done that? Is the user you are in now an Admin user?

I thought that I did. To be honest, my HD was failing last year, and I when I reinstalled everything, I ended up with a new admin acct. But it should have admin priveledges...should I install the avid from the other admin acct?
I went into my my applications folder and made sure that the new admin had read and write permissions. I've been cutting and things seem ok..
what is an editor slide file
I am no longer getting any error messages (knocking on wood)....
I uninstalled everything avid, including the library receipts files and supporting files, and then reinstalled. It reinstalled successfully and is running smooth.
thanks for everything
