Hi there,
I'm curious to know whether using Time Capsule, which constantly updates a copy of your hard drive, wirelessly (I realize I'm talking Leopard which is not yet Avid-compatible... I'm thinking ahead though) would somehow interfere with things when Avid is up and running. Perhaps a silly question, but I'm asking just in case there might be a conflict.

It doesn't actually conflict but what it does is spike your CPU usage when it is backing up. I have mine set to only backup at night when I'm not using the system. That way, it's just another Airport.

Hi BLKDOG,
O.K., so you're using Time Capsule, and you've told it when do do its thing.
Do you think Time Capsule (wireless) is any better than Time Machine (via fw)?
Also (and I think I remember you saying this on another thread), you're using Leopard. Is it going quite smoothly? I'm itching to make the switch from Tiger, but thought I should wait until I've finished a few current projects first.
Cheers,
I haven't used TC enough to really make a comparison yet but, so far, it works well.
I am on Leopard but I am not on 2.8. When I was on 2.8, things ran very smoothly though.
I'm on Leopard and I use TIme Machine...wirelessly. So far it's fine. Apple released an update to Airport base stations last week that allows USB2 drives, plugged into the base station to back up multiple systems wirelessly. Took about 36 hours for the initial backup of my laptop. So far so good.
