From an email this morning from nina@techwise-research.net
This is a special invitation to provide feedback to Avid Technology about its professional video editing products and services. Avid hired our firm, TechWise Research, to conduct an independent worldwide customer satisfaction survey among its customers. By better understanding your preferences and satisfaction, Avid can develop products and services that best meet your needs.

I got that survey too - how did they get our email addresses?
I suspect that anyone with an open email address on these forums would have got one. Doesn't really matter how they got it - anything from that site is now flagged as spam on my system.
My email isn't listed, I can only be emailed via the form (which is noted as coming from the Avid forums on arrival), that survey was sent directly to me...

Did Avid sell it's mailing list?
No Mike we dont sell our lists. A forum poster - dont know who except there email - decided t create one and post it here.
When we do an offical survey usually an Avid person that you recognize is the one that posts it.

Marianna as far as I know this "survey" has nothing to do with the forum. My email is not be available to forum members nor is the name that my email was addressed to readily available on this forum.
I posted the email address of the bogus survey sender in my original post. The url it connects to appears to be a company with a reasonably legit look to it.
All of the people commenting here are Aus-NZ based. Could the details have been obtained through trade publications?
Just for the record, I received no such email solicitation.

I didn't get one either but the same guy posted that survey to the forums before we removed it.
Thanks for the clarification Marianna. I just didn't want to assume anything since other companies had changed their policies midstream and I started getting email solicitations from their mailing list sales. It's nice to know that Avid still respects privacy.
I have naively participated to this survey !
It has been (nicely) translated to french (excellent translation). It was a true professional survey, (I innocently thought)
I have got a gratitude letter from the Avid vice president for my participation. There were 10 MC soft to win But what does this indeed mean, whom does this joke bring benefit ?
Attached the gratitude letter IN FRENCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is what the e mail said :
I tried to translate it

Dear Sep
A few months ago you participated to a survey for Avid Technology. The last month TechWise Research presented the results of this study to the management team of Avid to Tewksbury.
Kirk Arnold, Vise President and General Manager of Avid, asked to send you this attached gratitude letter.
Your participation to this survey is greatly appreciated. Yours truly, Lauren Jacobs Avid Project Director TechWise Research P. S.: Kirk could send you this email directly but we have not communicated your identity to Avid according to our guidelines private market study.
PS
My e mail is clearly visible and accesible, I indeed can't complain about that.

That document does look legitimate, sep. If it's not genuine, it contains a forgery of Kirk Arnold's signature as well. Have you forwarded a copy to Marianna?
