nuclearpicnic: Wow! thanks for the news! I know Leopard will finally be supported in June, it says so right on the .pdf I sent the link to (which means maybe august if Avid's past performance is any indicator).

Nice...I love saracasm.
Okay, so you're a long termer that has been burned in the past. Sorry - I'm the new guy that has only been with Avid since graduating from film school in 06. So my hopes are all high.
But, to be hammered with Leopard and Vista at the same time while going through a management shake up...let's give Avid a break right? Because here is the reality: in the past Avid could screw people over and not really suffer that much - I mean, what else were people going to edit on? But Apple got with it and got Final Cut up to be a stellar product. So now, how Avid plays in the next year is going to determine the longevity of the company, because people really can jump ship.
So I think us Avid fans should muster our remaining hopes and support them one last time. Let us see if the new CEO and team can make a difference. =)
But with all that said...I do feel your pain and can't say I'd have even lasted as long as you have without ditching everything.

so shouldn't this thread be g5 single and dual??????????????
yes it should be G5 single and dual.... my G5 2.0 dual is now perpetually stuck at 2.8 and Tiger... big BUMMER! I don't want to run any new hardware, why can't I run the new software with my mojo? would it even install?
It will install, yes but, if you have a DNA connected you get a black screen in the Record monitor that says "an error has occurred with a device connected to the 1394 bus".
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

poop!
guess now I need to upgrade my tower after upgrading my laptop....ugh.... and of course I'll need a new sonnet card to get my sata raid running again.... what fun.... anything else I'd need to think about upgrading?
'Panic, this error has nothing to do with the CPU. I'm running 3.0 on a dual 2.5 here. The error is specific to the DNA hardware.
yes, but I kinda need my mojo for the setup I've got running.... assume I'll get that error with a mojo, right?
Right but my point is, upgrading your CPU won't get rid of it.
It's really that simple Panic... if you want the Mojo, you gotta stay at MC 2.8 for the time being.

what do you mean? are you telling me that the mojo I have won't work with 3.0 on a blessed intel based Dual Quad Core Mac Pro? I'm assuming that's what I'll need to use 3.0 with the configuration I'm running.... are you saying that the dna hardware is obsolete as well? please clarify.
OSX Leopard has introduced a firewire bug and thus any DNA device connected to your Mac, any Mac, will have a consistent and debilitating error. So Mojo, Mojo SDI and Adrenaline users cannot upgrade to MC3 yet until this bug is fixed.
aha! thanks for clarifiying.... I hadn't heard that.... I was just going by the official list of qualified systems:
http://www.avid.com/resources/qualified/MediaComposer-Qualified-Apple-Workstations.pdf
I suppose some sort of warning might help on THAT document before a lot of firewire based DNA users start installing leopard and upgrading to 3.0. according to that document everything is just fine with a mojo or mojo sdi or Adrenaline.
I'm stuck at 2.8 anyway for the moment since the only qualified mac I own at the moment is my 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro.... and that has Pro Tools LE 7.4.2 installed on it, so yet again I'm unable to use 3.0 since Avid won't play nice with Avid's own Digi software....
aren't Catch 22's fun? wow I feel let down.
..and Avid expects to have a workaround pretty quickly. Apple hasn't been much help so they couldn't get it fixed by 3.0s release date. They are hoping to have another release very soon that fixes this.
