After upgrading to 1.8 my ability to export quicktime is gone, and using QT pro bringing up the dialogue to change export settings causes a rude QT termination of the program (it just goes away).
Sometimes I get a C++ buffer overrun error of some sort.
I am about to reinstall Avid but concerned because Quicktime itself doesn't seem to be working. Avid seems to be fine, except for the ability to export Quicktimes.
I might be on to something. I need to find the Avid Codecs PE which the avid site says is on my install CD but I can't find it anywhere.
Any ideas on what CD I can find this?
I'm pretty sure Sympony Nitris 1.8 requires QT 7.3.0
you might want to double check the Readme and then install QT7.3.0
Happy Editing!

All of the codecs are installed automatically during the installation of SN. Meanwhile, if you choose Individual Components on the installer, the codecs are listed as a separate installer.

Readme says 7.2. I'm going to try one more full install. :(
OK gang a few updates but it's all working! It was the nVidia driver (which in my case is Forceware 169.39) and the Hardware Acceleration had to be scaled back. It's sitting just to the left of the middle now and the Quicktime Export window opens correctly now, both in Avid and within the Quicktime Pro player.
Now on to the issue of the codecs. All I could find on any of the CDs was the LE version, which excluded the MPEG50 codec for licensing reasons. I needed the PE package. Well, taking another weary look deeper, I found an entry for Avid Codecs PE under "Add/Remove Programs". Clicking PE gave me the choice of uninstalling it, or repairing the install, which I selected, and amazingly it appears to have worked too.
Finally, I reinstalled the Symphony but it appears that was unnecessary due to the Hardware Accelleration button being slid all the way to the right. If I caught that I would have a lot more hair
Also, it looks like Symphony is OK with Quicktime 7.3 after all (according to a posting on the Avid forum but the link has escaped me).
Now, back onto XDCAM EX issues! :)
