B&H has no info as yet on this....

    Re: Avid Upgrade to MC

Have the companies providing the add-ons such as Boris and Genarts dropped their prices yet for the upgrades so Red/Continuum and Sapphire will work with MC? The last time I looked, the add-on upgrades would be twice or more as expensive as the $495 upgrade from Xpress Pro to MC.

Randall where do you see that its only 4.2.2?  I can't seem to locate that line...

    Re: Avid Upgrade to MC

I bought a copy of MC last week, and got it on Friday.  It came with 4.2.2.  According to Avid, this is the version that is "qualified" for use with the current versions of Avid.  I kinda thought MC would come with the current shipping version of BCC/AVX though, especially since the BCC/AVX upgrade is $599.

We use 5.x on all our systems at my facility, and it works fine.

    Re: Avid Upgrade to MC

The questions are and will be: what will the upgrades cost, will you have to go through a dealer and in general the overall total cost of ownership add up to be in the future?  From years of 20K - 100K simple systems the AXP was a blessing.  Let the new strategy continue to be.

Greate News Avid. I am looking forward to get my MC Copy.

I already found the update on the US-Avid-Store but when will the upgrade be avaliable in the German Online-Store? And how much will the upgrade it be in Europe?

    Re: Avid Upgrade to MC

Version 4.2.2 is currently the shipping version for all Media Composer - even those buying a $22k Adrenaline system.

And $500 for MC upgrade and 3rd party apps? Come on. Even if Boris CC 5 upgrade is $600 that is still a discount. Boris CC for MC is $2k alone.
