Hello everyone:

Please advise - I have been having so much trouble with AXP that I finally upgraded to MC2.8.  Everything was working WAY better than I'd expected since my last experience with the hopelessly flawed AXP 5.7.7 (let's face it, editing with Microsoft's own basic software worked better than AXP) that I thought all my problems were solved and I can finally catch up (2 months behind) editing my latest project.

All was working fine until this morning when I revisted a previous project, made some tweaks, went to review the edit and all the happened was I got a black screen - the border flashed white 3 times yet the audio played through.  I opened up my current project and it does the same.

I thought that it might have something to do with the nVidia driver 8.4.2.6 so I upgraded to the one that came with MC2.8.  This didn't help either and so I rolled it back to 8.4.2.6 as it had worked previously - still no luck.

I also made sure that I was running QuickTime 7.2 as approved by AVID.  So right now, as it stands, everything is as it was when I installed MC2.8 on Monday but for some reason it refuses to play out.  Any ideas?

My system is a Windows XP Pro (V5 - build 2600) SP2, AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+. 4GB RAM.  nVidia QuadroFX 500 graphics card with 8.4.2.6 driver.  Creative sound card, approved firewire cards and just under 2 TB of storage.

One last minor annoyance: I have re-mapped the keyboard to the AXP settings, yet for some reason when I hit the "next edit/last edit" keys it goes into trim mode... even if I use the buttons in the software.  Any ideas?

First off James, wrong forum. This is a forum to test posts and attachments.

Secondly, the flashing behavior you are describing is usually indicative of a window crossing over the S/R window could that be possible?

Lastly, the next edit keys are designed to put you in trim mode. To use them like you are used to, map the FF and RW keys to those buttons and set them to stop on head frames in your composer settings.

Thank you for responding so quickly.  I'll check that I'm not overlapping anything and thanks for the advice on the remapping -it's the little things that mess with you...
