QT export audio and video out of sync

I'm working again on this really long project....it's about 1 and 1/2 hours.  The export to a QT out of Avid free DV takes hours....I have to do this export overnight as it takes so long.  In looking at the QT file it's apparent as you get about 30 minutes into it that the audio and video is out of sync and the video seems REAL slow.  It's fine when viewed in Avid free DV but not in QT and I can't figure out why this is.  I'm using QT 6.5.2 which is supposedly fine with AF DV.

wow, doing an hour and a half in free DV..now that's asking for pain.

In what codec are you exporting the QT?

Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

You mean out of Avid?  I was using the Avid ABVB codec since it's the one that was automatically set in the program using a Fast-export Quicktime format but I'm going to try Avid DV with the highest quality setting. Or maybe because I was using a sample rate of 44.1 for the audio...?  Then I'm using a converter called SUPER to change it to an MPEGII but I'm not at that stage yet.

    Hi,

Use 48 for the audio, and trying the Avid DV codec is a good idea, too.

    good luck,

....and I used those settings last night with a noticible improvement as the sync seems to be better.....however.  The video in the QT movie seems to be slow, any camera movements or zooms have a slightly delayed effect but I can't tell if it's the rendered file that's causing it or the computer struggling with the file.Confused  The exported QT file is a whopping 17.5 GB.  Should this improve once I convert it to an MpegII?  I'm going to do this tonight.

IME, QT has issues playing back video at full frame size, try setting view properties in QT player to half size and see if playback improves.

If it does, then it's just your proc having trouble.

Re: QT export audio and video out of sync

    Hi,

Another thing you can try is exporting a small section of your timeline and converting that to MPEG and burning it onto DVD to see if it looks ok before going on and doing the entire timeline.

    good luck,
    Carl
