It seems that this year, the NAB will happen without the official Avid presence.

 

would you write a check to be shown up by all the competition? Not showing this year was the only good decision I have seen come out of Avid as a company in more than a decade.

You guys would have been highly entertained by the last talk I had with tech support regarding Adrenaline not being able to play HD in HQ mode.

them:"yes, you can work with HD with Adrenaline. You can edit in half quality mode and then export the file."

me: "so, I can't really edit HD with a client in the room?"

them: "sure you can."

me: "I just can't show it to em at anything higher than half quality?"

them: "exactly"

me: "so, I can't really edit HD with a client in the room?"

them: "the adrenaline will not play HQ HD. You will have to export that after editing in low quality."

me: "so when will my Adrenaline HD support HD?"

The only product manager that I know of at Avid is not a product manager at all but a sales manager.

I can and do edit and play HDCAM footage captured DNxHD 185 in full quality mode daily. HD SDI out
In short the average client often very inconsiderately wet themselves with excitement then and there in the edit suite when seeing the visual quality of their product.  Happily a problem I can live with (once I've cleaned it up)

As a Meridien nostalgic guy, I think your MCA experience is weird,  Your opinion seems to be directed against Avid by stating things which are NOT true !I do daily HD editing, playing in green green mode using the DNxHD board, without ANY problem !!!!!!!

I think they just want to keep as many as the Adrenalines advantages as possible.
