    XDCAM EX 35Mbit support

Come on, Avid -- the cameras are out, FCP is supporting...only supporting its dumb-downed 1440x1080 25Mbit output is not support! Let's go for the 35Mbit 1920x1080 support that other NLEs already have. Please?!?

    Hi Keith,

Sorry for the delay but I took a few days off for some R & R.

I thought this was posted before but if not..........  We are planning to add support for the 35 MB/s codec in a future release, in the early part of next year.  Cant give a definative date but it is coming.

Hey, maybe we'll get HDV1 support for 24 and 25p at the same time! We've only been waiting for that one since 2005!

    Re: XDCAM EX 35Mbit support

Good afternoon Powers That Be at Avid,

Well...it's two months later after my initial request, and in the interim there are many many more users of the XDCAM EX camera -- that want to see 35Mb support on Avid, and not resort to FCP, which has suported since the EX's inception. Any progress? Thanks!

    Re: XDCAM EX 35Mbit support

One last plea! It is well past the beginning of the year, still with no support for 35Mb HQ video from the PMW-EX1. We will seriously be converting our mid-suite (Avid MC) to a FCP suite at the end of this month if Avid cannot provide this, as feeding HD-SDI directly from the camera into our Symphony Nitris is NOT the solution. No doubt others have "had it" with Avid's inevitable latency on this and other issues.

We've tried editing on Vegas and it was a complete mess. My friend with the FCP edits merrily Red 2K, EX1 and all kinds of Panasonic formats. His eight core machine was much much cheaper than a Nitris station, I can tell you that.and it works well with his Macbook which he can use on remote locations.

As you might know by now June is the end date for Avid EX1 support.

In the meanwhile Premiere has become another alternative. I tested it and it works well and supports all modes. It now also supports HDV 24p and more.
