    Is decompose busted?

I have found that when I do a decompose of the final sequence of an offline, from sd to HD, many stills are being substituted for other stills in the sequence.  This has made a batch import of stills basically useless.  We noticed on an Adrenaline a few versions ago.  And now on a SN 1.7.2.

The decompose was done as Both Video and Imported files, 60 frame handles.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jef

We never decompose imports. It will really screw you on QT movies. Just batch import straight. It's not like you are going to bring a still in for too long a duration, so why do it?

    Re: Is decompose busted?

Well,  in the light of day after a long night, I was talking about this with some of the other editors.  They said, "Yea, that broke a LONG time ago."

You are right,  I don't really need to for most stuff.  But on this show I have some LONG QT files.  And the import are taking a long time for the complete files - of which I am not using all.  So there is a lot of wasted time.

This is first time I have run  into this, so it surprised me.

We have the same issue, Its a huge problem when we have lower third banners and it changes the name of the imported clips. A work around is to decompose captured clips first and then decompose Imported clips only.Dont use the captured and imported clips option. That seems to work

Unless.... The offline editors gave the imports a tape name. Many do that for tracking purposes. If that happens, even with "imports" unchecked on the decompose, your imports will get decomposed.
