Hello,
we are in the process of upgrading to Chrome Xe from Silver 4.02. With Silver we have external RAID, which we will connect to Chrome. Can I simply copy the projects folder and check that the external RAID on Chrome has the same letter as on Silver (F:)? The question is - are the files (project + data) compatible? If not - any ideas how to transfer the existing projects.
Best regards

sebastjan,
I'm not a past Silver user so I can't answer this for certain. However, if you try this you will be able to determine if Liquid Chrome Xe 7.2 can or cannot convert the old project files.
As well as connecting your external raid you also need to copy the Liquid 4.2 project files located on your c: drive into the Chrome Xe's system drive (e.g. in Liquid's project directory). After this try to open the old project files with Xe to determine if they can be converted or not.
Please backup everything you may need before trying any of the above.
Let us know how you go.
I've upgraded some old silver projects to chrome. The short answer is sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It especially appears to have trouble with various effects filters, although if I remember correctly you should get your clips and such, but may have to reassociate the media or redigitize it.
Its really a bit of a lucky dip.
In theory Chrome will convert the project across to the new format ... but there are some area where things can still go wrong.
You may need to manually relink some clips - never worked out the exact reasons or differences.

Hi,
well - it worked :)
Chrome had no problem opening Silver V4 projects. However it did "freeze" in the final stage of importing/converting projects.. but when I restarted Chrome project was there. Great :)
