    Power Supply for Avid Mojo?

I have an Avid Mojo (the original). I lost my job in January and apparently when cleaning out my office, I lost the power supply for the Mojo. Can anyone tell me the power specifications (I assume it's DC because the jack shows center positive polarity)? Maybe I can buy a universal power supply or any leads would be appreciated. Or a picture of the power supply...maybe I still have it somewhere.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

If it was your Mojo, why can't you just contact your former place of employment and ask if it's laying around there?  Or maybe ask if you can come back and look around for it?

Next step... invest in a label maker.

Great idea on the label maker. Will take that idea under advisement.

What I really need is the information requested. It's been 6 months and the office has been re-assigned. Any belongings were undoubtedly pitched. Hadn't been editing, so no need for Mojo till now, which is where I discovered no power supply.

A more likely scenerio is that I have the power supply but can't ID it, hence the request for help. As soon as it has been ID'd or replaced, it WILL be indelibly marked.

Re: Power Supply for Avid Mojo?

Looks like http://www.avid.com/content/4415/UsingMojo.pdf   page 40 has the power adapter specs  - in addition to matching voltage, also make sure the adapter you use has a similar or better power capacity (i.e. usually rated in milli-watt-mW)

labelling is a good idea, nowadays there are many of those similar looking adapters in any average computer/edit system, and often made by a company other than the equipment it powers so you can`t go by factory label..

edit: add - Here is a recent post with a picture of all MojoSDI goodies including the PSU...  may help jog your memory although you have a "Mojo Classic"   http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/thread/245250.aspx

Re: Power Supply for Avid Mojo?

Thanks so much, Paul, for the info. Especially the PDF with the parts shown. I had forgotten that it wasn't a traditional 'brick' transformer, but rather a two part adapter with an AC line in.

And I am a believer in the labelling thing. In the box with my stuff, there were probably 8-10 transformers/power supplies for various pieces of equipment.

Again...many thanks for the great links and helpful pdf's.

Re: Power Supply for Avid Mojo?

I recently resurrected an old analog Mojo from an equipment shelf, but there was no power supply for it.  (probably why it was sitting on that shelf for so long)

I found another MojoSDI belonging to another editor and looked at his power supply (after I plugged in my newly found Mojo and making sure it actually worked), then did a Google for the model number and located one for sale from here http://tinyurl.com/3gdgv9

It arrived last week, but I was not able to plug it in and give it a go until today.... and now it seems that this same exact model power supply by the same exact manufacturer has a DC connector that's too darn FAT to fit into the DC plug on the Mojo!!!  arrrrgghhhh.  what gives?  Did Avid have the power supplies specially engineered with a smaller DC plug so that your average user would never be able to replace their power supply if it was ever seperated from the hardware?

    Ridiculous.

Sounds like it's time to visit the local Radio Shack for the proper plug.

Must think of something clever to go here...

The trouble is that it's gotta be connected to that "switching adapter" I don't know if I'll be able to pick one up at Radio Shack that easily.

Re: Power Supply for Avid Mojo?

Chop the plug of the PSU you do have, and put a new suitable plug on it. I believe the Avid Mojo plug is a 2.5mm DC but it shouldn't be hard to find the right one.

It is worth using a multimeter to make sure you get the plug polarity right! :)
