Hey all,
I found that rolling back my Realtek driver to the one that Windows Vista automatically installed made Media Composer (3.5) stop complaining about no audio device.
It was funny, it was working fine, and then I decided to update all my M/B drivers because I was having problems with my FireWire card, through maybe something do with the PCI slot and the M/B. I updated everything, then suddenly Avid would give me this problem.
I searched through the forums here and came on this thread (among many others). Nothing really worked.. BIOS and all that jazz.. then I realized what the change in my system had been, so I went to
Device Manager
Sound, video and game controlelrs
Properties on Realtek HD Audio Device or whatever
Driver tab
Roll Back Driver
it changed it back into the generic "High Definition Audio Device" in Device Manager
Okay Okay close out
Reopened Avid
No more complaining, audio works again.
