Full Screen HDV & HD, but not SD?

I understood from the manual that I could not run my Mojo AND get full screen mode (pity the poor blues scholar that googles across that phrase by mistake). I'll skip over the frustration of paying more and getting less and move on to the issue at hand.

I just created an HDV project to run an upconvert test and while rolling across the menus I came across Special>Full Screen Mode. And it worked. It's definitely not available in my SD project.

What's up with that? Is my Mojo disabled in HD? I do know that I don't get a picture on my NTSC monitor in HD, but I expected that.

    Just wondering,

Full screen feature is not available when using Mojo. It must be disconnected.
And yes it works for both HD and SD.

Well, that's what I thought too Dom. But I'm telling you I closed my SD project (without so much as even quitting the app), opened my HD project and went to Special>Play Full Screen (or however it's phrased; I'm in SD right now) and I got a full screen fully moving image. Mojo was running in SD --I could see video on my NTSC monitor-- before and after and I disconnected nothing so it was running in HD as well. ?

Mojo can only be used for HD when you have SD compatible format - like 1080i. You can activate Mojo by switching the format in the Format tab.
For HD project types like 720p and 1080/24p - no Mojo is not useable since it does not have the a hardware scaler and frame rate converter to do so.

I've tried to get full screen display in a SD project, but can only enable it when I have toggled to 1394 on the timeline, and then there is no output from the the mojo. In DNA mode enable full screen is greyed out.
I think this is how it's supposed to work.

    Dom,

Isn't 1080i/59.94 HDV a compatible format? That's what I'm running, but apparently I can't do so and get my Mojo working. I also notice I can't toggle the DNA/1394 switch in the timeline's toolbar.

Did you change your format from 1080i to NTSC 30i in the format tab?
This will downconvert the signal and allow it to go out the Mojo.

Re: Full Screen HDV & HD, but not SD?

Well no. For the most part, right now, I'm offlining in DV25. But eventually I'm going to need to uprez and output in HDV to my client's Sony HVR-M15U HDV Deck. The elements I'm uprezzing are Pan & Zoom stuff that I won't be able to replicate in the online suite (Avid DS), but that I seem to have no trouble recreating in HDV (or, I'm guessing HD) in my system. We (the online editor & I) have decided the easiest way to bring them in to the online is for me to uprez them and then lay them off to tape.

Easy if I can figure out how to pass through my Mojo in HDV. Or do I simply have to bypass it? That didn't seem to work either.

I'm off the computer for the evening, but I look forward to your response.

You have to disable the Mojo for Full Screen display on the computer monitor and bypass it when passing HDV signal over firewire.

Must think of something clever to go here...
