I have Avid Xpress DV 3.5.4 and I downloaded the pan and zoom plugin but i've never been able to get it to work.
I can add it to a video clip but then when I go into effects editor for that clip and mess with the "zoom factor" under the "size tab" it doesn't zoom in or change the picture at all. I'll render it but it still doesn't do anything.
If I click the effect icon in the top lefthand corner of the effects editor box it opens a search window (as if to locate a file on my computer) that's titled "Please choose and image" and the video screen turns to black and white lettering at the bottom of it says "AVX_Warning: Render disabled: Plug-in UI is currently running"
What does this mean and how can I get my pan and zoom to work?

Hi,
Take a look in the online help for details on how to use the P&Z effect. You have to edit a filler clip into the sequence, apply the P&Z effect, and tell the system where the image is that you want to pan or zoom. That's what's happening when it's asking you to "Please Choose an Image."
good luck,
Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
but it's not an image, it's video i want to pan and zoom on.
Any ideas?
Well, that's [edited by moderator]. Is there a plug-in i can use for video?

Picture In Picture works as well and is easy to pan around in, but like pdrg says you are going to lose quality. I dont think there will be any plugin that could maintain the picture quality while zooming in.

I've been using Pan & Zoom (on still pictures) successfully for a while, but every now and then it brings up the same error message DeanHarry experienced and refuses to work. It seems to happen with specific .jpg files. Sometimes re-saving those files as .jpgs (or other file formats) in Paint and then re-importing them will solve the problem, but not every time.
Is there some kind of .jpg file that Pan and Zoom can't handle? These files have all come from the same source so I'm a little mystified. Any help on this would be great. Let me know if you need more info
