    Saving Filmscribe columnar files

I'm creating neg cut lists and have noticed that in filmscribe when you create a columnar list there is no way to save it as a Word file.

Obviously I want to be able to forward these lists to the neg house in a file format they can open.

Is there a way to save it as a word file right from within filmscribe?

I guess I should be a bit more specific.  When creating an assemble list using the "Columnar" template in filmscribe, the Preview window comes up showing the generated list.

When I try to "save as" the only option is to save the list as a Avid .ctl file.  That file seems to be useless outside of filmscribe.  I've tried opening it up in Word, Notepad, etc, and it's just a jumbled mess.

Am I missing something here?  Surely there is a way to save a generated cutlist out of filmscribe that can be opened in an application to edit and print!

I used to create cutlists in ALE format. These can be easiliy imported into Excel or Word etc.

I seem to remember the old version of Avid cut list program had more options for saving the files.

For the life of me I can't figure out an easy way to save these things.

I'm sending printed lists to the neg cutter, but it would be nice to e-mail him files as well.

FilmScribe is not dongle protected. One of the reasons for doing so is that the neg cutter can open the files, or use FilmScribe to generate their own lists based on the bin send to them. I use the PDF printer file from any of my applications to create a file version I can email. Or you can export as a TAB delimited file as mentioned. I also use the HTML version that I post for the neg cutter or anyone else needing access to the information. See:

These were the final lists for the feature documentary "Cinematographer Style" (http://www.theasc.com/cgibin/store/acsstore.cgi?user_action=detail&catalogno=cinstyle ) on which I was the post supervisor. The lists were used for pulling and the DI process.

    Re: Saving Filmscribe columnar files

I find that using "open with" Internet explorer on any computer opens .ctl files beautifully. I then do save as before e-mailing the lab. However, Michael's way sounds better, I will send a copy of film scribe to my lab. It must be much easier for a Lab to be able to manipulate the lists, rather than having a print out. Otherwise, they must get some pull lists heads out, others tails out etc. Keeps them on their toes though, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing.
