    No Audio on Capture

    Seeking help...

    I just upgraded from 5.2.4 to 5.6.2

When I attempt to capture analog video, looping through a JVC BR-DV3000U MiniDV VTR, I get video, but no audio through the 1394 connection.  When I capture directly from a MiniDV tape I have no problems, audio from the VTR through the firewire 1394 works fine.

Before upgrading, this setup of capturing analog video through a lopping setup worked fine.

    Any suggestions?  No Mojo involved.

    Re: No Audio on Capture

One possible problem is a feedback loop.  If you are using a mixer and have audio from both the computer and the analog source feeding the camera, the 2 will sometimes cancel each other out.  The solution here is to turn off or disconnect the computer's audio.

    Good Luck.

I went from 5.2.4 to 5.6.1 and now have the exact problem with a DSR-45 (video no audio).  My solution is to simultaneously record to a tape as I go thru the deck and out via firewire and capture in Avid.  I reuse this tape over and over.  At least this way, I get audio, and I don't have to capture to tape first and then capture to Avid again.

If you find a solution to this please post back.

Great solution! Thanks.  I'm not happy with 5.6.2...  Also having problems with the Media Creation settings not saving.  What gives?

This has been an ongoing problem first reported here in September of last year.  Supposedly, a fix is in the works.  We can only hope and wait.
