How do I create a Pal 1080p project

I can't figure this one out. When I create a new project the default seems to  be a 720x486 29.97fps.  So whenever I link PAL 1920x1080p movies from my Canon 5DMK2, frameflex is always applied to them.

So - Is there anyway to default to a PAl 1920x1080p project?  If not how can I stop frameflex from being applied?

On the Select Project dialogue box Click "New Project"

Under the Format pulldown, choose "HD 1080 > 1080p/25"

Select Project dialogue?  do you man on fist starting MC FIRST? i just get a create project option when i start MC First,  there i can select previous projects or create a new one by entering a project name, which then goes and creates a 29.97 720 project.  I'm missing something...Sad

PAL is SD composite so doesn't exist in HD.

PAL is 25fps so 1080/25P would be the closest.

But PAL is interlaced so technically it would need to be 1080/50i

I don't think MC first can create interlaced projects.

Re: How do I create a Pal 1080p project

Thanks - Im hazily aware that PAL is a legacy term that applies to 25fps, and that Progressive is 1080/50i.  But, what I want to do is create a 1080p project, before I link to clips shot on my 5D in 'PAL" 1080p.  The defualt project size/raster is 720x486  at 29.97.  and so the linked footage gets frameflex applied, which I'm assuming it wouldn't need if the project were the right size for the footage, ie 1920x1080p 25fps.   I obvioulsy dont understand what Frameflex is though as I just created a project, whihc was the defualt 720x476 29.97 size, and then linked one clip.  This has both Colour encoding and Frameflex applied automatically.  Then I dropped the clip onto the default sequence, whereupon the window pops up telling me the footage doesnt match the project siize and do I wnat to change the project size to the clip size.  I say yes, and then the project changes size to match my footage.  But still, on linking Color encoding and Frameflex are applied.  Can I get rid of the Colour encoding and frameflex effects? or better still stop them being applied to begin with?
