    Crying [:'(] background transcode stop working after media composer update

    Hi there, 

     

    after updatign to Media Composer 2019.6, i no longer manage to transcode, 

    when im trying to use background transcode i got this error: 

     

    any thoughts?

    and this error i got when im trying to transcode inside media composer, it's AVC Long-GOP video file so there's no AMA plugin, it's Avid Generic

    I have the same problem. Works direct but you cannot queue in Background Services.

    No answers, so using Media Encoder....Good Luck.

    Same problem here with transcoding UHD/50p media to DNxHR. I tried with and without proxy-setting activated. In both cases background transcoding produces errors while transcoding in MC works flawlessly. I reported this issue to AVID.

    Over the years I've found a couple of issues with background transcoding that seemed to work -

    1. Uninstall and cleanup previous MC installation as best you can

    2. Remove all files from the 'Background' folder - these are old jobs that may not be complete and I have found that they can lead to failed (new) background transcodes

     

    In Windows, the background folder is located here:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Avid Media Composer\Background

    If you want a fast official answer from Avid call support. Also, it's a holiday weekend in the USA, so there's less activity on the forum.

    Just a reminder that the forums are not an official support channel, but an unofficial one. All of the moderators are volunteers. We actually spend a fair amount of time trying to help troubleshoot user issues. So do a large number of users in general. The official points of contact in the forums are through people like Marianna and Raff (RalphC), who are the customer advocates for Avid (among others).

    Even if anyone from support or development look at the forums, they probably aren't allowed to make unapproved comments. That's Marianna's job. We speak to her and she speaks for us.
