Find solution for me, I update to the last 10.14.5 Ios mojave and update Pro Video Format 2.1 (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1988?locale=fr_FR) Normaly after update ios, it's automatically ask to update pro video format. After that i reinstate MC 2019.6 and everythink work perfectly! ;)

I had the same problem on an iMac Pro... black source/record monitors. Undocking the panel worked, but only for one clip at a time (meaning I'd have to dock/undock the panel every time I wanted to see a clip).

Updated the OS to 10.14.5, and also updated the Pro Video Format to 2.1, and everything appears to be working again.

    DStone:
Try the following: Create a new workspace (Windows->Workspaces->New Workspace)…

    Hi DStone,

that only worked half… creating a new workspace gave me picture in the record monitor but not in source. Un docking resulted in both monitors turning black. reselcting the workspace results in only record monitor having picture.

    Cheers

Re: MC 2019.6 black monitors issue

I also still have the problem. Im already on OSX 10.14.6 and updated the ProVideoFormats and reinstalled MediaComposer 2019.9 . Still have the problem that the source monitor turns black and i can just workaround by choosing e.g. the color correcting workspace and switch back to my editing workspace; then im able to see the footage in the source monitor again until i click on the next clip or matchframe the next clip. Hope someone can help with this issue!

Farid - I removed the system ID for security purposes.  Please dont post that here as someone could use your license.

I have also created a case 03820498 and asked that support look at this for you... however, since between 2019.6 and 2019.9 - there are a lot of tweaks and fixes, I suggest you upgrade to 2019.9

Re: MC 2019.6 black monitors issue

    Hello Marianna,

thank you. I wrote that I am already on 2019.9 and the problem persists. Seems like that the problem is not there when i edit on my LG UltraWide only as external monitor with laptop closed and keyboard + mouse + power connected. When I edit with my laptop as second monitor and an external monitor as main monitor the problem is coming up again.

Good info.... I have added this additional data to the case so support has the whole picture.

Re: MC 2019.6 black monitors issue

Hi all, running into this issue as well. 2015 Mac with 32GB ram. Laptop + 1 Samsung monitor. 2019 Avid on Mojave.

I've noticed the source monitor goes black if I use the segment tool to move clips in the timeline. Only fix I worked out was restarting the application but I will try the docking. Need a better fix.

Re: MC 2019.6 black monitors issue

I'm still having this issue with 2019.11 on iMac Pro.

It's so disruptive to my workflow that I've rolled back to 2018.12.8.

Marianna: Any word on when we can expect a fix?

Avid Media Composer 2018.12.8 Symphony option, Avid Artist DNxID (DNxID Desktop Video Application v11.4), macOS 10.14.6, iMac Pro (2017) 10-Core, 3.0GHz... [view my complete system specs]
